Description

Drug abuse is all about pain. It is about the physical pain that modern medicine addresses with opioids. It is about the emotional pain that we all face and some of us learn to deal with, while others learn to mask by self-medicating.

Drugs do damage to the user, both physically and emotionally, but the real problem is that drug abuse affects everyone. It affects the users as well as their families and friends who have to live with them and their problems.

You may not be a user or even have users in your immediate circle, leading you to believe you are free of the problem. The truth is we are all affected and we all pay for the problem.

Drug abuse is the same way. We all pay for the increased medical bills, for their recoveries, for their crimes, and for their lost productivity. We all pay for it and, unless you are a part of the solution, you are a part of the problem.

This book provides some common sense to a country that has lost common sense. Today, we want what we want and we want it NOW!

You are a genius…you just have to slow down and quiet your mind to tap into your innate wisdom to be a truly GREAT PARENT. It isn’t easy, but the rewards are great.

Dr. Bill Gallagher, Author

As a product of the sixties (most of which I remember) and someone who can trace my roots to a speakeasy on either side of the family tree, I was born to be involved with drugs. For my generation, I was one of the lucky ones who was able to climb free of the trap and eventually into drug abuse prevention.
As someone who lost my voice to a drunk driver, I have always found strength in the printed word, both mine and others, as an alternative means of communication.

For more than forty years, my prevention work has ranged from helping high school students create a positive peer-pressure program similar to current Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) programs and creating a nonprofit organization with international reach. Over the past fifty years, my writing has gone from my first paying job at age fourteen as a sports writer for the local daily newspaper to editor of the NYS Vocational Guidance Association Newsletter and, most recently, as a columnist for Attorney At Law Magazine.

My day job is as a chiropractor, and in spite of all the framed degrees and awards that hang on my office wall, the best and most important job I have ever had is as a father.
